The reports highlight ways to increase safety, accessibility and traffic flow on both key transport corridors and include feedback about speed and the needs of pedestrians and cyclists.
RRV Regional Director (Northern) Brian Westley said that to better cater for predicted growth in central Victoria, the projects are investigating potential improvements on McIvor Highway and Strathfieldsaye Road (Bendigo-Redesdale Road) between Reservoir Road and Longlea Lane.
Feedback was gathered from drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians and bike riders through online community consultation and community drop-in sessions earlier this year as part of two development projects.
“Central Victoria is growing and we need to be prepared,” Mr Westley said.
“McIvor Highway and Strathfieldsaye Road serve as important connections for our communities so it’s vital we get this planning right.”
“We’re pleased to have heard from locals, commuters and visitors who are well placed to share their local knowledge, based on their first-hand experiences using these connections.”
“The insights we’ve gained through community consultation will help form concept designs before we speak further with the community next year.”
The ongoing consultation is part of the Victorian Government’s $7 million investment in two development projects investigating potential future improvements on the routes.
