The $850,000 project, which includes a contribution from Horsham Rural City Council, will totally rebuild a 500-metre section of Natimuk Road between Bennett Road and Hillary Street.

The works will also replace kerb and channelling and improve roadside drainage to extend the lifespan of the new road surface.

The pedestrian crossing at Horsham West and Haven Primary School will also be moved to a safer location as part of the works.

An average of 2,900 vehicles travel on this section of Natimuk Road (Wimmera Highway) each day,  including more than 430 heavy vehicles.

It is the western gateway to Horsham’s CBD, as well as the ‘Green Triangle’ – a six-million-hectare area of agriculture, pasture and timber plantations that spans the border area between South Australia and Victoria.

The works are expected to take 10 weeks to complete.
