The new and more prominent speed signs will be installed at schools in Bannockburn, Tarrington, Elliminyt, Lavers Hill, Penshurst, Casterton and Balmoral across the first half of this year. The signs aim to increase driver awareness of the need to slow down during these peak times.
As some of our most vulnerable road users, these works will allow pedestrians and cyclists to cross the road more safely and efficiently.
The initiative is part of a jointly funded package of road safety works to support economic recovery in Victoria. The Australian and Victorian Governments have invested $19.5 million in the Pedestrian and Safer Schools Program, improving safety near schools and shopping precincts across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
