For the safety of the community and our crews, it is not possible to view the superloads when on the move or parked. Please stay well clear of the superload.
Plan your journey and allow extra time
Each load measures more than 50 metres from end to end and weighs approximately 260 tonnes. While these superloads are smaller than previous superloads, there will be two travelling together along the Princes Highway from Bunyip to Yallourn.
If you must travel during the superload move, plan your journey and allow plenty of time to get to your destination.
Delays are likely if you’re travelling:
- between Sprinvale Road, Glen Waverley and Princes Freeway, Bunyip after 10pm on Sunday 6 December and Monday 7 December.
- between Bunyip and Yallourn after 10pm on Tuesday 8 December. The superloads will travel on the wrong side of the road for 40km from Main Neerim Rd to Narracan Creek on the Princes Freeway East. At 4.3 metres wide the loads cannot be overtaken along this stretch.
This is a complex operation due to the size and weight of the superloads so there are no designated viewing opportunities. Please keep clear during transit and when the superload is parked as safety is our number one priority.
We will have traffic management officers and load escorts travelling with the superloads for the entire journey, making sure your roads are safe during and after the move. They’ll be helping to manoeuvre the vehicle safely around corners, temporarily removing signage and lights and then putting everything back in place once the superloads have passed through.
The planned route for the superloads is subject to change but is scheduled to travel along the following major arterial roads. For further information, refer to the map below.
