As part of Towards Zero we’re installing over 2,500 km of rumble strips to improve safety on Victoria’s major roads.

Between Swan Hill and Donald on the Donald - Swan Hill Road we’ll be installing rumble strips to alert drivers when they’re veering out of their lane.

By alerting drivers with the noise and vibrations caused by rumble strips, we can prevent potentially fatal head-on or run-off-road collisions.

Crews will be progressively installing the rumble strips along the road, with rolling lane closures and speed reductions in place.

Traffic impacts

Signs will be placed at the start and finish of the works area to notify all motorists to reduce their speed to 40km/h. Access for driveways and intersections may be restricted for a maximum of thirty minutes each day while the crews move past.

If you’re travelling through the area, keep an eye out for changes to traffic conditions, plan ahead and allow extra travel time.

Works will take place from 6am to 7pm from 4 December to 16 December 2018 and will be weather dependent. A second coat on the line markings will be applied to the road approximately 28 days later, causing minimal delays.
