Safety improvement works will vary at each site and may include splitter island installation, path widening, asphalt sealing of approaches, drainage improvements, installation of reflective tape or markers, installation of handrails or installation of additional signs.

Overview

The Hume Region will be made safer thanks to the joint Victorian and Australian Government Road Safety Program, designed to reduce road trauma and save lives.

The Road Safety Program funding supports the fast roll-out of lifesaving road safety treatments on rural and regional roads and promotes greater protection for vulnerable road users, like cyclists and pedestrians, in urban areas.

These works will improve the safety and visibility of the rail trail/cycling track access points for all road users.

The Hume Region Rail Trail Cycling Separation Projects will be delivered through a Regional Roads Victoria and local government partnership.
