Update - August 2022
Works are on track to finish in September 2022, weather permitting.
Trimming of the cyprus trees along the Melbourne-Lancefield Road is now complete and safety barriers along each side of the road have been installed.
A new top layer has now been placed on the second section of the project, which runs 1.5 kilometre north of Sutherlands Road.
The crew have also begun working on to the final section which runs south of Mullalys Road to Bolinda-Darraweit Road, removing the old road surface in preparation for the new surface to be placed. This part of the works will also include placing an extra layer of asphalt on sections which need extra strength, such as the Bolinda Creek Bridge and within intersections.
In the next few weeks, the final seal will be placed on the length between Sutherlands Road and Bolinda-Darraweit Road and new line-marking will be placed along the entire length of the project.
OverviewWe are completely replacing the road surface on Melbourne-Lancefield Road between Bolinda Creek Bridge and Mullalys Road, Bolinda to create a safer and smoother journey for all road users. The existing surface will be removed to rebuild solid foundations before resurfacing the entire length for a safer and more durable surface.
During construction, traffic will be restricted to one lane, with the speed reduced to 40km/h within the work zone.
The works will also include the trimming of the large cyprus trees for safety reasons as they are too close to the road. A small number of trees which have fallen down will also need to be removed.
We recommend that you allow 5-10 minutes extra travel time to your journey while works are underway.
Please remember to drive to the conditions to protect our workers and other road users.
We thank you for your patience while we complete these important safety improvements.
