Update - March 2023
Works are underway to complete the final seal and finishing works at Mt Victory Road.
While final works are not yet complete, Mt Victory Road will be reopened to traffic in both directions for the Labour Day long weekend, from 5pm, Friday 10 March to 9am, Tuesday 14 March. Speed restrictions and traffic management will be in place for safe travel.
Works will recommence from 9am, Tuesday 14 March and traffic will return to shuttle flow with traffic management in place. The final seal and finishing work are scheduled to be completed by the end of March.
We thank Halls Gap and Wartook businesses and the community for their patience and understanding as we work towards completing this important project.
About the works
Works will not directly impact access to any residential properties or businesses.
The works will include:
- Excavation and removal of rock material
- Constructing new pavement and drainage
- Line marking
Background
During maintenance works in 2021, crews identified a landslip under the road which is causing a crack to form along a section of the road.
Geotechnical investigations showed that a retaining structure/treatment under the road edge and verge has become hazardous.
Works to stabilise the landslip were completed in August 2022 to ensure safety and prepare the site for road realignment works.
