Update - November 2022

Works continue to realign a section of Mt Victory Road near Halls Gap impacted by a landslip, preserving the road’s stability and longevity.

Mount Victory Road will be reopened on Friday 18 November, following the temporary closure of a section of the road while rock excavation works were completed.

The road will be reopened to shuttle flow with traffic management in place while the realignment works continue. Speed restrictions are in place and there may be delays. Please plan your journey and follow the directions on all on-site signage.

The full realignment works are expected to be completed by mid-December 2022.

Emergency services vehicles continue to have 24-hour access in the event of an emergency situation throughout the project.

Background

During maintenance works in 2021, crews identified a landslip under the road which is causing a crack to form along a section of the road.

Geotechnical investigations showed that a retaining structure/treatment under the road edge and verge has become hazardous.

Works to stabilise the landslip were completed in August 2022 to ensure safety and prepare the site for road realignment works.
