Gillies Street to Creswick Road (Midland Highway)

  • Creating a cycling link between Wendouree and Ballarat to make it easier for cyclists to connect to other cycling routes and destinations in and around Ballarat
  • Links to Lake Wendouree and central Ballarat, including crossing points over Forest and Burnbank streets
  • Widen the existing concrete path along the east side of Gillies Street, from the Howitt Street traffic lights to the railway corridor
  • Construct a shared path along the north side of the railway reserve, between Gillies Street and the Midland Highway, including a fence between the new path and the railway reserve
  • Lighting along the path.

Creswick Road (Midland Highway) and Macarthur Street

  • Upgrading the existing gravel path along the west side of Creswick Road (Midland Highway), between the railway corridor and Macarthur Street
  • Upgrade the Midland Highway/Macarthur Street intersection to allow for bicycles
  • Widen the existing concrete path along the south side of Macarthur Street, between the Midland Highway and the railway corridor
  • Install raised crossings at Ronald Street and Trench Street (Bunnings Warehouse entry/exits), and at Pisgah Street to make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

Macarthur Street to Ballarat Railway Station

  • Construct a shared path along the east side of the railway reserve, between Macarthur Street and Little Clyde Street, including a fence between the new path and the railway reserve
  • New shared pedestrian/cycling bridge over Gnarr Creek
  • Widen the existing footpath between Little Clyde Street and the railway corridor
  • Install pedestrian operated traffic lights across Doveton Street 
  • Move car parks along the west side of Doveton Crescent back to provide appropriate space for the existing shared path
  • Install pedestrian traffic lights and/or wider kerbs across Armstrong Street with raised crossings across Doveton Crescent.

Ballarat Railway Station precinct to Humffray Street/Scott Parade

  • A new shared path on the north side of the rail corridor (over Peel Street) from the Ballarat Station to Humffray Street
  • Pedestrian traffic lights on Humffray Street near Scott Parade connecting the existing path on Scott Parade to the proposed path to Ballarat Station.

*Pedestrian traffic lights across Mair Street, installation of a raised crossing and wider kerbs on Davies Street, and construction of a shared path along the east side of Davies Street to the railway underpass have already been carried out as part of the recently completed first stage of the Mair Street Upgrades project.
