We're delivering upgrades across Loddon Mallee region including road safety and maintenance improvements.

Loddon Mallee consists of several regional and rural communities within the municipalities of Bendigo, Mildura, Swan Hill, Buloke, Campaspe, Gannawarra, Loddon, Macedon Ranges, Central Goldfields and Mount Alexander.

Key features of our region

Loddon Mallee is the largest region in Victoria spanning Gisborne in the south to Mildura in the north across to Donald and over to Echuca.

We’re here to support people to get where they need to go through simple, connected journeys.

Our focus areas include improving road and active transport in keeping with population changes, tourism and industry.

What we're doing

Some of the major works in the region include:

  • Robinvale-Sea Lake Road safety improvements – these works are part of a $12.3 million upgrade of the road, an important route for farmers, freight and the community in northern Victoria.
  • Condon Street and Karin Road intersection upgrade – the $6.8 million project is funded under the Australian Government’s Road Safety Program in partnership with the Victorian Government. Victory Christian College is contributing $2.3 million to upgrade the intersection in Strathdale, Bendigo.
  • Girgarre-Rushworth Road Bridge replacement – the new $4.9 million bridge will create a smoother journey for all road users. It will also enable more heavy vehicles to return to Girgarre-Rushworth Road, between Stanhope and Rushworth, keeping the region’s farmers and freight operators better connected.
  • Black Forest Drive safety improvements – extensive community and stakeholder communication has led to the planning for $6 million in safety improvements to benefit all road users. This is expected to be delivered in late 2023.
