Across the Hume Region - from the Goulburn Valley to the Ovens Murray and our Alpine regions we're delivering major upgrades plus vital safety and maintenance improvements.
Our Hume region takes care of communities across the city of Greater Shepparton; the rural cities of Benalla, Wangaratta and Wodonga; the shires of Alpine, Indigo, Mansfield, Mitchell, Moira, Murrindindi, Strathbogie and Towong; and the Alpine resorts of Mount Buller, Falls Creek, Mount Hotham, Lake Mountain and Mount Stirling.
What we’re doing
Key roads in Hume Region are being upgraded as part of our 2020/2021 maintenance blitz, delivering smoother and safer roads while supporting jobs and local economies.
Around 250 kilometres of road will be targeted as part of a $79 million investment in road maintenance including rebuilding sections of the Hume Freeway, Murray Valley Highway and Melba Highway.
Bandiana Link Road at Wodonga and the Midland Link Highway between the Midland Link and Magills Lane will be made safer with funding from the joint Australian and State Government Targeted Road Safety Works Program.
Improvements to Bandiana Link Road include installation of a wide centreline treatment and rumble strips.
On the Midland Highway we will be installing safety barrier, sealing shoulders and installing improved signage.
